Integrating IPTV with Opera, Protel and Mews: a technical and operational checklist

Essential PMS events
Check-in (to personalise the TV), check-out (to reset sessions), room move (so the folio isn't shown to the wrong guest), no-show, and wake-up call (managed on-screen). An integration that covers fewer than these 5 events creates edge cases that must be handled manually.
Oracle Opera: FIAS and OXI
Opera exposes FIAS over TCP/IP and the OXI interface for XML. Quadro Entertainment communicates with both: for new setups, OXI is preferred for its standard HTNG XML structure; for rollouts on existing groups, FIAS is retained for compatibility.
Protel: HTNG and Cloud
Protel Air and Protel On-Premise support the HTNG 2008B/2014B standards. Quadro implements the GuestStatus and RoomStatus messages, sufficient to handle 95% of real-world cases.
Mews: Open API
Mews provides a modern Open API REST interface with push webhooks. The integration is generally the fastest (2–3 days of setup); the only point of care is correct time-zone handling across multi-property chains.
Acceptance testing (UAT)
Before go-live: 1) check-in generates a welcome message in the correct language; 2) a charge made from the TV appears in the folio; 3) a room move correctly transfers the session; 4) check-out deletes all OTT sessions; 5) a wake-up call scheduled from the TV wakes up the right room. Without all five tests passing, go-live should be postponed.
Frequently asked questions
Which PMS platforms does Quadro Entertainment integrate with?+
Oracle Opera (FIAS/OXI), Protel (HTNG), Mews (Open API), Apaleo, Scrigno, Ericsoft, 5stelle*, Lean, Vertical Booking and other PMS with an HTNG or REST interface.
How long does PMS integration take?+
Typically 2–5 working days depending on the PMS and the complexity of the existing installation. Mews and Apaleo are the fastest; Opera always requires planning with the Oracle account contact.
Can I integrate multiple PMS across a chain?+
Yes. Quadro supports multi-property architectures with mixed PMS; each property keeps its own connection, and the back office centralises configuration and reporting.
What happens if the PMS goes offline?+
Quadro keeps working locally with the last known configuration. Charges generated by the TV are queued and sent to the PMS once the connection is restored.
